About Us

Hi !

My name is Diana, living in Valais since 2010, mother of two children and completely passionate about creative hobbies.

Growing up in a family of seamstresses, knitters and embroiderers, I developed a taste for this universe of handmaking. After ten years without making anything, it was in 2016 after my mom was diagnosed with cancer, that I picked up my needles and started knitting and crocheting again, maybe because it brought me closer to her. It had become my therapy. At that point I realised that I was knitting plastic more than natural fibres.

Sensitive to several ecological and social causes and faced with difficulty in finding fibres that are more respectful of the environment, the idea of Funky Fibres then begins to take shape with the main aim of offering ethical and eco-responsible yarns. Inevitably, the idea of sharing and multiplying connections quickly came into the project, as you will discover over the next months.

It is important to me to carefully choose the wool and fibre producers and to keep close contact with them, in order to offer you the greatest transparency on the origin of the yarns.

At Funky Fibres, you will not only find the raw materials for your creations, but you can also learn the basics of knitting and crochet, in order to make your own clothes with full awareness of their origins.

This is my humble contribution to keep the tradition going.

Philosophy

First of all, I prioritize the “GOTS” certification because, for the moment, it is the one that brings together all the criteria (Social, ecological, and animal welfare).

Unfortunately, some products in my store are not certified, but meet the following criteria:

  • Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which tests for harmful substances.

  • No Mulesing No wool comes from producers who perform the surgical technique of removing part of the perinatal skin of sheep as a means of reducing the incidence of myiasis on merino sheep.

  • Eco-friendly natural fibers or of natural origin.

  • Recycled fibers already used or from surplus production.

  • Local and / or European productions.

I am convinced that small gestures make the difference and even if my products are not all certified, I choose them so as to respect at least one of the criteria mentioned above.

Packing and shipping

I first favor recycled materials as well as social actions such as "Women and the environment" when possible (depending on the stock of my suppliers) for cardboard and packaging. This material is new and could be reused later. In addition, the packages are sent with the "Pro-Clima" of the post, entirely at my expense.

Invoices

Your invoice will be sent to you by e-mail automatically upon confirmation of your order, no paper invoice accompanies the packages.

Customer service

Each client is unique and deserves all my attention, time and support necessary to succeed in their project. For this, I am at your disposal to answer your questions and help find solutions if something does not suit you.

My philosophy is respect, transparency and sharing.
